There are two distinct varieties of safe personalized places... one is more
for peacfull meditation, and the other is like a energy filling station. There
are also any number of ways to make these places but I will cover my favorites
here for the sake of brevity.
The first kind can be anywhere that is fairly private, that people will not
visit often or come to disturb or bother you while you are in it. I would suggest
choosing your own room for starters, or a quiet place in the wilderness if possible.
INDOOR DOMAIN
If it is your own room or the place is indoors, you don't have to do much
more than meditating for a short period of time as often as possible (preferably
every day). While you meditate clear your mind as usual, and feel the energies
of that place condense as if you where creating a barrier or personal energy
shield around yourself, but instead of focussing these energies to you, focus
them to from a shell around the room. The best way to visualise this is as
if the energy hardens and coats the walls of the room. This in fact could
even be in a small room or even a coffin if that strikes your fancy. It is
also recomended that when you are finished with this stage of the creation
process, you find a few peices of Amythest, and place them anywhere in the
room that you feel is nescessary. It also couldn't hurt to burn some inscense,
and do a blessing or two in any fashion you follow.
All these things not only serve to protect the domain you have made for yourself,
but also helps to make it more yours... You add your own energies to those
of the room, and make it more like a part of you. This can even be done to
an entire household if possible, and is HIGHLY recomended. However if you
do not live alone, and especialy have non believers in your houshold, I would
suggest you just make one room belong to you alone. Or the existance of such
people freely roaming your domain, will serve to weaken the walls you have
built, Remember these walls are potent protection from anything outside of
them, but can be broken down from inside if care is not taken. Do not worry
however, everytime you meditate and reform these walls they are strengthened
and renewed.
Take care to occasionaly let the walls down in order to refresh the energies
in the room, or it will become stale, and even though energies will never
stop flowing even through your walls, they can be weakened severely by them
if the walls are not refreshed often by taking them down and building them
anew. The other reason for taking down these walls every so often is a lot
like when you don't change your sheets or cloths often enough, no matter how
clean you are, the cloths will still smell and be soiled by your wastes...
The energy you give off continueosly will remain in this room and is unreclaimable.
It leaves a trace that after while will make you feel ill... It is especialy
advisable that you take down the walls and allow the room to breath after
you have had an emotion hard hit, such as a break up, or death... These emotions
will linger in the room, and though there is little doubt that while these
emotions are running there course they are good for you, once the pain has
gone away the leftovers in the room will be harmfull, and may keep you from
getting over whatever it was that caused the pain.
It is also wise to clean your room or rearange things in it ever so often
for similar reasons, like the Japanese rock gardens, the whole pattern of
energy flow will change even if you move just one object in your room. This
is good for you, and keeps the energies that come into the room always moving
in a fresh way.
OUTDOOR DOMAIN
Choose a place outside that is fairly remote, and/or, does not see much
in the way of traffic.
It is set up using similar Methods to the indoor domain, except this time
it is not going to be an impregnable wall. It will be more like a border,
through wich only what you wish will be able to pass. By that I do not mean
that you can keep out the rain, or other people. However the area you have
claimed, will, depening on your level of power and respect for the spirits
in such a place, protect and nurture you. This place does not have to be maintianed
very much by comparison, and does not need to be "Aired out" Like
the Home Domain. Also unlike the home domain, It is not Realy yours... It
is more like a haven that has accepted you...
Remember all things have enrgy in them, wich can be fed upon or asked by
you to do your will. This is a large and dificult subject to explain without
makeing an entire web site based on natural spirits and the like, but if you
want to get a better Idea look up a book called "The 21 Lessons of Merlin."
It can be found at any well stocked book store, and for all intents and purposes
one of the best starters books for the druidic enthusiast.
In any case If you want to create this haven of sorts, All you need to do
is first find the place you want it to be... Survey it for a while, make sure
it is private... And NEVER disturb anything in that region without gaining
the permission of the beings in it before hand. Accidental disturbance is
fine, but don't go around breaking off tree limbs for fun till you contact
the spirits first.
Next mark off either in your mind, or physicaly the boundary of the haven
you want, it can be just about any size you want, but keep it humble... A
good rule of thumb is if you can't make it from one side of the haven to the
other in less than five minutes, it is too big for your needs. In time you
can think about making them bigger, but that requires other skills to do safely
and properly, for info on that Look in the Afformentioned book in the chapter
about the Wild Hunt... In any case make the borders of this haven distinct,
either using land marks, or markers you set up. If you wish to place permanent
markers such as carvings in trees, or large stones, only do so when you have
felt that you are a welcome guest to this area... Otherwise take a fallen
stick or carry a canteen of water you have had a chnace to touch with your
energy. And mark your proposed territory, The water works best in heavily
wooded areas. Sprink the water every so often sparingly, or drag the stick
behind you marking your path as best you can, They do not have to fall on
or touch the ground, as you are just signifying to the spirits of the area
of your intent.
Then go to a spot in the proposed haven, try to find a spot that is friendly
to visitors... By that I mean a small clearing with a place to sit, or a large
stone upon wich you may sit etc. Get comfy and begin to meditate... Let your
energies flow with the universe around you, and when you feel like you are
in touch with your surroundings enough, try to send out a message to the spirits.
If they are listening, and you where loud enough they will make themselves
known to you, in any number of both subtle and grand ways. Usualy however,
you will just be snapped out of your trance by a brid call, or sound in the
woods. Other times you will be snapped out of the trance by a feeling of being
watched or to put it bluntly you will get spooked. Do not allow the fear to
grip you, if they wanted you dead, you would be by this point I am sure. Just
try and relax, and when you feel that you have made contact, either mentaly
project in the most respectful way you can, your request... or similarly speak
it aloud. If they agree to your terms you will know somehow, it might be another
spooky feeling or another noise. If nothing happens they probably do not want
to support your idea, or you havn't given them any reason to do this for you.
In fact sometimes you may get revelations about what the spirits want in return...
Sometimes in exchange for the rights to use this area, they will want you
to protect it, or give them occasional gifts... DO whatever you feel is fair,
and above all be respectful!
When a deal has been struck, you will not need to do any more buisness with
the spirits, from that point onward this area is yours, and you may do with
it what you wish, however you may feel guided by these spirits to do things
a certain way. This place however is for all intents yours when you are in
it. When you leave it returns to the rightful owners. While you are in this
area you will be protected from most dangers, or even strangers. But the level
of protection varies from place to place, and the one who is the user of the
haven. Most often you will just be free to practice any magick or what have
you, as you desire, as well as be able to feed from the things around you.
Also all negative energies that are not of a natural kind will not be permitted
to enter, and if it does enter It will leave shortly. You will find you will
come to know this area and the things that live in it very well indeed if
you spend much time in it, and may even discover that there may be some truth
to the legends about faries and such. The sky is the limit.
Once you have made the deal, set up your new haven as you see fit so long
as it is respectful of the inhabitants of the area. You may carve in runes
on the tree's, camp out there, pretty much do whatever. But always respect
those spirits in this place, try to remember to great them in some way when
you arrive and say good by and thank them when you leave. you can even befreind
them, just try talking to them... Like I said the sky is the limit. But never
act like the area is only yours, you may do as you wish in it, you may even
scare away others by CLAIMING it is yours to them. But never beleive this
to be the case. At most you share it.
NEVER EVER without permision set up a permanent dwelling there, unless it
is like a small hut or lean to. These are fine because they are made primarily
of things found in the haven itself. But if you defile the place by making
it a new condo, or something, expect problems. If it is being developed by
others you can try to defend the area, but it is not necsessary to do so unless
that was a condition of your useing the place. The spirits know that all things
must change for better or worse, and if they choose to they will fight back.
But more often than not they just either change with the area, or leave it.
be sure to set up some kind of protective circle and place sources of power
within your haven, there effects will be mulitplied. Also if you are into
magick or the occult in anyway, you will find your spells have more power
in your haven then almost anywhere else. If you ever learn the ways of the
Druid, you will find ways to actualy make the haven more like your domain.
As well as other nifty little perks. I suggest doing some research on Druidism,
you might be happy you did.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
In closing I must say I covered a lot of facts for such a small site, feel
free to print any of what I have said here for your own use. I would recomend
you do anyway. Also the methods for creating a Haven, as well as a Domain,
can be altered in any number of ways as you feel nescessary. What works better
for you is all it is about. Above all though, no matter what technique you
use... When you are creating a Haven, be VERY RESPECTFUL of the spirits and
beings in the area. If you keep this in mind, you can't go wrong. You may
not get what you want, but you at least won't be in any kind of trouble...
Also I can accept that there a many people out there who do not beleive in
spirits, this is fine, just remember when enough energy is amassed in one
place, the place always gains a persona, Like a haunted house, or old battlefield.
Just remember to treat the place with respect, and you will not go wrong.
