This is commentary of some the changes I have gone through in the last six
months since I "fell" back into my Predatory Nature after fighting
it for almost seven years:
GROSS STRUCTURAL
The usual muscle density adjustments most Sanguine vampires experience nothing
spectacular amongst my/our kind.
METABOLIC
My appetite has kind of dwindled over the last half year or so. And some of
the foods I liked just don't smell all that appealing to me anymore. I have
become unable to drink alcohol, again (sigh.). Biorhythm is nocturnal again.
Experience hunger for blood of "humans" and if left unattended experience
relatively "normal" or expected consequences. After about a month
of starvation I start having abdominal cramping and bouts of nausea.
SENSORY
All my senses are somewhat more acute, I feel that I merely paying more attention
to stimulus now, instead of actually experiencing an improvement of my sensory
apparatus. The only blatant change in my sensory organs is my eyes. Apparently
I now have a "Multi-Layered Iris" in each eye, the outer layer closes
to about 75% closure, the inner layer can almost close completely, but is not
quite as opaque. Both layers actuate separately and entirely by reflex at this
time, if I can influence the action with thought it is no more so than I could
when they were more normal. My eyes are now almost completely a muted green,
where as before the had some brown around the middle. For the record I see better
in the day than my "human" friend who also works third shift, so apparently
this does not adversely affect visual acuity as far as I can tell. Just looks
odd if someone notices.
Obviousness:
You have to use a pen light or flashlight and get me to hold my eyes still
for it to be noticeable unless I'm in very low lighting then my pupils go
from "wee", to "fricken huge". I agree it's pretty fucked
up, I got that "paradigm shifting sans clutch" feeling when I noticed
it in the mirror. I really wish my optometrist had just said something to
me about it back in October instead of just looking confused and asking me
"Can you see okay?" duh! asshole that's why I'm getting glasses...
Let me elaborate so some of the younger ones don't panic,.. well too much
anyway. The poor guy, he squinted a lot, got up paced a round the room, sat
back down looked in the scope, squinted. This pattern repeated three times,
before he said much to my annoyance:
OPT: "Can you see okay? are you diabetic?".
ME: "No I'm not diabetic, why are the blood
vessels on my retina distended?".
OPT: "Well no, hmm. You can see okay though,
right?"
ME: "Ahem, I am here to get reading glasses?"
(o.O) (annoyed)
OPT: "Uhm, well..Let's go over here to this
machine and we will get your prescription figured out."
ME: "Um, okay, )
That literally is how that scene went down. I wish he had just said something.
It would have been less unnerving than noticing it myself while half awake.
I have looked at photos of myself when I was little and/or a teen. A friend
of mine who works at a photoshop "blew-up" an image of one of my
eyes on the computer. They used to not be like that, at least as far as I
can tell. So I still don't know exactly when this occurred but it must have
happened between July and September of this year. Well I hope that clarifies
a few things. I will update this thread if anything new occurs.
METAPERCEPTIVE
The usual "Vampire package" (Ladies, quit giggling in the back..)
Enhanced empathy, some moments of slight precognitive awareness. Sensitivity
to magnetic and spectral fields and energy. Nothing particularly extraordinary
to a vampire.
COSMETIC
The "eye thing" above. Continuing loss of pigment in the skin to the
point of vastly "improved" venal visibility. Severe loss of photo
resistant compounds in skin resulting in dangerous levels of photosensitivity
to direct sunlight or UV lamps. The engorgement and increased visible presence
of veins in a layered pattern from deltoid to deltoid and from middle of sternum
to the junction of the collar bones at the base of the throat. When exceptionally
tired or dehydrated these veins become very apparent, Why?, have no damn clue.
I certainly hope that this doesn't spread to my face, for obvious reasons.
To clarify:
My severe photosensitivity, is mostly due to being on a irresponsibly high
prescription to Dilantin for half a year, for which one of the side effects
is in fact photosensitivity. Being what I am, it will take years if ever for
me to replenish the protective compounds in my skin that I need to resist
the harmful rays of the sun. So in fact my continuing "disagreement"
with the sun is due to medical complications, the difficulty of recovery is
from what I am.
[SphynxCat's note: Dilantin's photosensitivity is
not something mentioned on most consumer websites, but it IS an actual side
effect. It just seems to be something the medical professional does not consider
"common". :/ ]
PSYCHOLOGICAL
Nothing extraordinary among "Sangs". The usual detachment and hunting
instinct problems. Enhanced perception of emotion in others but a fundamental
lack of sympathy or emotional response to the feelings of others animals, humans
in particular. Some depressive episodes but nothing dramatic.
Well that's about it for now. If I notice any other significant changes I will
post them on this
thread.
My Red Cent.
